The mission office on transfer day - how does one describe it? Perhaps a cacophony of love. New missionaries coming in, the delicious smell of fresh baked cinnamon rolls from the PMG breakfast, visa waiters who thought they would be in Australia or Brazil or Mexico, and the temporary missionaries with their families - they haven't even gotten mission packets or been to the MTC, so they're really here on faith and a prayer with no idea what's going on - companions who are sad to be leaving each other, new companionships with friendship waiting to blossom, suitcases, boxes, and half-eaten bags of cereal to take to the new apartments, new areas, changing car keys for a new bike helmet, departing missionaries singing "Up! Awake ye Defenders of Zion!" for the last time, and surprised new missionaries who are singing "Called to Serve" with our mission for the first time and didn't know that there was a part in the middle where you throw your fist in the air and shout "GO! GO! GO!" as loud as you can, even when you're in the chapel......signing the Defenders of Zion banner, and writing your baptism goal on the 3,500 Souls banner, seeing friends, saying good bye, wondering what the next five weeks will bring, because this is the first time ever that there will be a five week transfer, smiles, tears, testimonies, hugs and love. Transfers.
And by the way, Elder Rex, your mom sends her love!
She just doesn't want you to forget her.
