Last Thursday, October 28th, I got to spend part of the day with Sister Zazueta and Sister Miller. It was such a treat! They are the happiest missionaries ever, and very fun to be around! It happened to be their Preparation Day, so we started with a trip to the grocery store, followed by lunch at a Chinese restaurant.
After that, we joined the elders from their zone for a little game of soccer. Those poor elders had no idea what they were in for! We played Sisters against the Elders, only they could only use their left feet. Talk about a frustrating experience for them! I told them, welcome to my world, that's what I feel like all the time! Then, to add to their frustration, I started using some of my best soccer tricks in my game. They didn't even see it coming. First, I used that trick where just as your teammate passes you the ball, you run to another position on the field. It fakes everyone out, including your teammate! The elders all expected me to stay where the ball was coming and kick it when it got there, but no way, I ran across to field and fooled everyone! My next trick was when my teammate passed the ball to me, and this time I stayed where I was, but when the ball got to me, it went right between my legs and 20 feet past me. That fooled everyone too! They all thought I would kick it! I used some other tricks, as well, like running full speed into the defensive player in front of the goal and flattening him. Sometimes I get mixed up on the rules between soccer and tackle football. I also did a very nice slip-n-slide act and biffed it right in the dirt. It's no fun to play if you aren't dirty at the end of the game. I gave Elder Calderwood a run for his money when I chased him back and forth across the field 83 times. I didn't ever actually steal the ball from him, or even remotely come close, but I'm sure I wore him out. Or maybe that was just me. My game highlight though, had to have been running up to a ball sitting dead still on the field, with no other player withing a mile of me, and totally and completely missing it when I attempted to kick it. Yep. It was another good day on the soccer field for me! I got to run in the sunshine and I had a blast! As for those elders, their abs were all so sore the next day they could hardly move! It was from all the laughing they had done! Look out, Mia Hamm!
