January 17, 2012: This Morning I Woke Up to 4,000 Cups of Water

On the evening of January 16th, Kristi and David decided to sleep over at our house.  I was reading my scriptures in the recliner in the family room.  I got sleepier and sleepier and decided that the bedroom was just too far away.  I pulled the blanket up and was drifting off for the night when Kristi came bounding into the room, grabbed the blanket and demanded that I go to my bed and sleep.  I argued with her for a moment, but she was very persistent!  Grumbling, I got up and went into the bedroom.  Bruce wasn't there, and he always goes to bed before I do, so I was confused.  I asked Kristi if she knew where he was.  "Downstairs reading" she said.  I went to bed.  Silly me.

In the early hours of the morning, on January 17th, I heard noises from the kitchen.  I thought David was up getting ready to go to work, and having some breakfast.  It was the loudest and longest breakfast ever!  Finally, I got up.  "This is ridiculous," I thought. It was 5:00 a.m.  I dressed and opened my bedroom door to go see what exactly David was doing.  Suprise!  There were 4,000 Dixie cups of water just outside my bedroom door.  Evidently, I wasn't going anywhere anytime soon!
I heard the front door close, and knew that whoever had done this was getting away, so I determined to find a quick way out of the bedroom.  Fortunately for me, the culprits had not thought about the fact that just outside my bedroom door, around the corner in the family room was an end table, next to a couch.  Escape!
From the couch, I made it over to the other end of the room, and around the 4,000 cups of water, through the kitchen and to the front door in time to find David, Elder Tory and Elder White about to climb into the getaway car!  Busted!  So, I thanked them profusely for their gift of love and kindness, and invited them in for breakfast.

Special Ops:  Kristi went out and bought all the cups.  David drove to pick up Elder Tory and Elder White.  Bruce was in on it too!  He slept in the basement with his clothes, razor, and everything he needed for the next day so that he would not be bothered by all the shenanigans!  In fact, there were a whole slew of people helping out on this one.  The Assistants gave permission for it all.  These four don't even look a little bit repentant, do they?

I gingerly picked my way through the kitchen, and made a breakfast of bacon and eggs for all of us.

Bruce slept soundly through it all, and I was out of the house and on my way to the grocery store before he woke up, so I thought I'd leave him a little gift of my own, just to let him know that I appreciated his cooperation in this escaped.
I decided I would show my appreciation to the rest of them on another day.
