July 1, 2012 - Mission Split

July 1st was a Sunday, and a pretty normal Sunday at that.  Not much happened that you could see, or feel, or that anyone noticed.  But life in the Utah Salt Lake City Mission had a 8.6 earthquake on that day, and things will never be the same.  We had four assistants from May 2nd to June 13th - Elder Tui, Elder McNees, Elder Purcell and Elder Vogt.  Then, from June 13th to July 1st we replaced Elder Purcell with Elder Mendenhall.  At the end of the day on July 1st, Elder Tui and Elder McNees quietly left the mission home and drove into the Utah Salt Lake City West Mission, to take over as the Assistants to President Swain.  Just as quietly, the forty-some missionaries who had always been in the Utah Ogden Mission, serving in the Farmington, Centerville, Layton and Bountiful areas suddenly became part of our mission.  It was the quietest earthquake ever, but the aftershocks are going to last a long, long time.  Missionary work is going to explode in Utah.  Just watch and wait.
