June 18, 2012: The Temple Quarry

My daughter, Loni, and her four children stayed with us for a whole month this summer!  It was so much fun!  They know that we will be busy with the mission most of the time, so they do a lot of entertaining themselves.  But because they were here for so long, we had to chance to snatch an hour here, or an evening there together.  On this Monday night, we had planned a Family Home Evening picnic at the Temple Quarry - where the pioneers so long ago cut the stone for the beautiful Salt Lake Temple.  It's not too far from the house, and a little ways up the canyon so that the summer sun isn't quite as hot.  Grandpa ended up with some mission business he had to take care of, so he missed out.  But the rest of us had a great time playing on the stones, and in the creek that tumbles down the mountain.  It was just about as perfect as an evening could be!

Alli, age 8, and Carson, 10 months old
Alli, Taya, age 3 and Madison, age 7.
How come they get to play in the rocks,
and I always gotta sit in the dumb stroller?!?!

At one point, Taya was throwing rocks into the creek,
and we heard Madison start to cry.
Taya chucked a rock and hit her sister square
in the head!!

 Such a precarious balancing act!
Oops!  The feet end up in the creek!
 Grandma couldn't be any happier!
 Finally!  Out of the stroller
and down here where the good stuff is!

 Heading home.
