We are blessed in the Utah Salt Lake City Mission, with wonderful senior couples who work in our mission office. They are local couples who live at home and work at least 40 hours a week to keep this place running smoothly. I couldn't even begin to count all the ways they serve! Some of what they do is take care of the vehicle fleet of 60 cars, give drivers tests, tell the missionaries when to get their oil changed, inspect cars, take them to the shop when missionaries crash them, fix flat tires or scratches or dents, order missionary supplies in just about every language in the world, keep a supply of toasters and microwaves and vacuums and plungers and dish soap and plates and cups and cereal bowls and Tupperware and everything else on hand and in good repair for 100 apartments, type all the correspondence that goes in and out of the office, keep the Presidents speaking schedule straight, balance the budget and keep the finances in order, pay the bills, try to help 200 missionaries understand why there is no more money in their accounts, keep 100 cell phones working, receive 200 referrals every week, and forward them to the correct missionary companionships, collect and repair bicycles, helmets, bike lights, and bike locks, doctor 200 missionaries and figure out what is wrong with them, diagnose broken bones, appendicitis, sprained ankles, kidney stones, and broken hearts, inspect apartments, teach missionaries how to clean, check carbon monoxide detectors, come back and reinspect apartments, perform marriages, organize and train senior missionary proselyting couples, help couples understand the importance of marriage, provide listening ears and wise counsel, organize service projects, take pictures.......and the list goes on and on and on.....
If we didn't have these selfless, dedicated senior couples, we would simply have to shut down the mission! We love them for their service, and appreciate them more than words can express.
