You know, as soon as I created the title for this blog, I wondered if any of my kids even know who Peter Rabbit is. I know all of the stories about him, but do I remember them from reading them to my children, or only from hearing them during my childhood? And do you suppose that any of my grandchildren know him? In any case, everyone should know about Peter Rabbit and Mr. McGregor's garden. There is also a song that goes:
Here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail,
Hippity, Hoppity, Easter's on its way.
He's bringing every girl and boy, baskets full of Easter joy,
Hippity, Hoppity, Happy Easter Day!
I'm not really sure if that song is about Peter Rabbit or not. He did have three sisters named Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail. Lucky for Jolene, Kristi and Jamie that I did not name them Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail! Actually, when the twins were born, I called Aunt Helen and told her what we had named them,. She told me she was very glad that I did not name them Flopsy and Mopsy. Now that I think about it, that song is very secular and probably not at all appropriate for a religious holiday. Sometimes it's a little scary to actually follow the trail that my mind wanders...
So this blog is about Easter. In the east and in the west. Bruce and I were planning to be in Utah over Easter weekend so that we could be around for the blessing of sweet little baby Hailey. So on the first Saturday in April, we had our east coast granddaughters over to dye eggs and have an egg hunt. In keeping with our finest egg dying tradition, we dyed way too many eggs, made a huge mess, and had a fabulous time!

Juliet thinks this is a fabulous game!
Taya says, "Just wait til next year!"

Flopsy and Mopsy would be so jealous!
The egg hunt is on!
Jason's just trying to get in good with the girls so they'll share their candy with him!
Then, on April 9, we flew out to Utah to spend some time with Flopsy, Mopsy, Rob, Cottontail, JD and Hailey. They are all doing fabulously and we loved seeing them! We got to do so many fun things while we were out there,! We attended a baby shower for McKenzie, visited with lots of friends and family members, ate out about every other hour and shopped at the mall during all the hours we weren't eating.

McKenzie's baby shower. Sure hope it really is a girl!

Once again, Rob looses his head over some silly thing!
We also got to be there for a beautiful Easter day, bright and sunny and perfect for blessing a sweet little new baby girl. Her daddy gave her a very tender father's blessing, as three grandpas and a gaggle of uncles stood in the priesthood circle. We followed that with a delicious dinner at Uncle Patrick and Aunt Kris' house - even though they were off in California! Good thing they were so nice, because it seemed that everyone wanted to join in the celebration of Miss Hailey and her amazing arrival and phenomenal growth and development. We just aren't sure that forty people would have fit in Jamie and JD's apartment!
