A Trip to Utah

The first weekend in October, we flew to Utah for the wedding of Bruce’s niece, Monique Moore. We left on Thursday, October 8th, and met Jolene, Kristi and Rob for dinner that evening in Provo. On Friday, Bruce made his first-ever trip to a salon for a haircut. His hair stylist, Kristi, gave him a nice shampoo and head massage after she cut his regular “Zero on the top, two on the sides”. It was pretty fun to see Kristi in action at her school!

Jolene and Rob said good-bye to us just after lunch, and headed north to Idaho, since Rob’s sister was getting married the next day.
Friday evening, we joined the extended Winn family for a delicious dinner to celebrate the upcoming big day. Saturday morning, we sat in Monique’s room and chatted with all the family while Kristi did the bride’s hair. She looked beautiful!
Then we drove to the Salt Lake Temple for the ceremony. It was one of the loveliest ceremonies I’ve ever been to. The sealer brought such a wonderful spirit into the room, and we all agreed we could have just stayed there forever listening to him teach. Jacob kissed his new bride, and they were married! Bruce and I left the temple soon after the wedding, hurried back to the hotel, changed into traveling clothes, checked out of the hotel, drove to the airport, turned in the rental car, and tried to check in for our departing flight to Philly. Just kidding! The flight was canceled! No flights available until tomorrow! So we re-rented the rental car, drove back to the hotel and checked in again, put our church clothes back on and headed over to crash the reception we had told them we wouldn’t be attending. Crazy! It was nice to be able to spend a little more time with some of the Winn family members, but we were sorry to miss church in our little branch on that Sunday.

  1. I can't believe you went through all of that, only to find out your flight was cancelled!

Kristi did a great job on the bride's hair! And, of course, on Bruce's haircut. :)
