October 13, 2012 - And on the side, I run a hospital

In my free time, I run a hospital on the side.  Part of my job as mission mom is to take care of the woes and illnesses of the missionaries who come our way.  I have gotten very good at colds, flu, ingrown toenails, bed bug bites, constipation, allergies, athlete's foot, appendicitis, diarrhea, bunions, broken bones, torn tendons, tonsillectomies, gall bladder removal, slipped capital femoral epiphysis, stitches, depression, lactose intolerance, crone's disease, spider bites, sprains, homesickness, headaches of every variety, kidney stones, dislocated shoulders, cuts by knives which are not even allowed in the mission, bicycle accidents, broken collar bones, colonoscopies, celiac's disease, pneumonia, torn muscles, bronchitis and most other maladies known to man.  For about ten days in early October, we had two inpatients in the mission home.  Elder Crowe, who managed to avoid my camera entirely while he was there, was recovering from a tonsillectomy.

"Say ahhh....."
His companion was Elder Brown, who was dealing with about the worst case of bronchitis I have ever seen.  Elder Brown is a champion sleeper.  He never moved out of this recliner in ten days.  No matter who was in and out of the mission home, no matter how much noise there was or what was going on, he slept through it all!
Amazing!

I shall have to warn his future wife, that as far as helping with babies in the night, she will be on her own!  Eventually the two of them did get better and go on their way!  It was kind of fun having them around, although they know way too much about us now!
