Tech - knowledgy

I carry two phones on my mission. The Sprint phone, with all the little icons on it which I do not know how to use yet, is my mission phone. All of my missionaries have this number, and it rings pretty consistantly all day long. Which is fine, that's my job. The Verizon phone, which currently has an adorable picture of Kenna on the wallpaper, is my family phone. I turn it on when I'm not so busy, and use it to talk to my kids and grandbabies back home. It also keeps me from getting (too) lost in Salt Lake City, as it has a GPS link on it. Every day I use both phones. Every night I plug them both in to charge.

Friday morning, when I woke up, my Sprint phone was dead. No charge. No battery. I decided I must not have had the connection tight, or that the outlet I had plugged it in to wasn't working properly, or that I didn't give it long enough to charge. All of these solutions were proved inaccurate when I wiggled and jiggled the cord and the connections and tried every outlet in the house. No luck. Fortunately, my Verizon phone was charged up and ready to go.
So Friday afternoon I made my way to the Sprint store, where I told the customer service rep that my cord had gone bad and I needed a new one. He took a look at it, and tried the same wiggling and jiggling that I had done at home, to no avail. "You're right," he told me, "Your phone charger has gone bad." He took my bad charger and gave me a new one. Happily, I headed home.
It wasn't until last night that I actually plugged my phones in to charge while there was still a light on in the room. (For those of you who know Bruce and I, you know that he ALWAYS goes to bed at least two hours before I do, and I'm usually wandering around my room in the dark so as not to waken him.) When I plugged my Verizon phone in, I was shocked to see the words, "This cable is not recommended for this phone." appear on the screen. I didn't understand. I got the other phone charger and plugged it in. The message appeared again. I sat and thought. And then I thought some more. And a light bulb appeared in a little thought bubble over my head.
It seems that I took a perfectly good Verizon cable to the Sprint store and complained that it would not charge up my Sprint phone. So the Sprint guy threw away my perfectly good Verizon cable, and gave me another Sprint cable. I now have TWO chargers for my Sprint phone, and NONE for my Verizon phone. So I had to go to the Verizon store today and buy a $30 charger, which is more, I think, than I spent for the phone in the first place!
I'm just here to make the rest of you all feel like geniuses! Except for the guy at the Sprint store, who should be really embarrassed about now.
