Shots!

The flu season is upon us, and since our missionaries are constantly out in the public and thus at high risk, the Church recommends that they each get a flu shot. The LDS Hospital was offering free flu shots to the public on Saturday morning, October 23rd, so I announced to all of our missionaries that they would be there promptly at 9:30 in the morning unless they had a 10:00 baptism to attend or they served in the Wyoming Zone. Although there was much murmuring, all 175 of them showed up on time. Even some of our senior missionaries showed up for a shot! I had promised them lollipops, Super Hero Band aids, and to hold the hand of anyone who needed me. I now know that Elder Trexler is deathly afraid of shots! He stood at the back of the line for over an hour, sending people ahead of him, until President Winn finally went and dragged him to the nurse! Every single elder there automatically flexed his muscles as soon as his shirt sleeve rolled up, and the nurses had to tell them time and again to relax. It's such a macho male thing! The biggest dilemma of the day was which band aid to choose.....some of the Elders even being secure enough in their manhood that they took a Cinderella or Belle Band aid. It was actually a fun morning for me, but then I got my flu shot last week! I loved seeing (almost) all our missionaries first thing in the day! They are sure fun to be around! If you want to see all 200 pictures, click on the very last picture at the end of this blog. It will take you to the website where you can see pictures of all those missionaries hamming for the camera!

Why is Elder Sharp so happy? Because he already got a shot earlier this year, so he didn't have to get one today!!!

  1. No sign of Elders Partridge and Casey. Hopefully that means they were having a baptism and not in Wyoming!!! :)
