New Missionaries: July 13, 2011

Our latest freshman class to enter the mission from the MTC, and every class seems to be better prepared than the last one! These dashing young elders and sister arrived on the morning of July 13, 2011. They were ready to hit the ground running!

Back Row: Elder Prieto, Elder Talaipa, Elder Kodama, Elder Ma'asi, Elder Havea, Elder Cundick, Elder Perez, Elder Gutierrez and Elder Facer.

Front Row: Elder Treilhard, Elder Wilkins, Elder Miller, Elder Humphries, Elder Vanegas, Elder Cordova and Sister Baleiligana.

We started with breakfast and getting to know them a little bit. President Winn interviewed each one, and I tried to find out who can play the piano. Sadly enough, the only pianist was Elder Facer, a visa-waiter who has already gotten his visa and moved on to his assigned mission! Rats!

We made them each fill out a gazillion forms and write home to their parents.

Then we got to take a picture of each of them. We are going to have an awful lot of pictures on our family room wall at home when we get back to Delaware in 2013 and hang up all the photos of the new kids who joined our family between 2010 and 2013!

Elder Wilkins from Arizona

Elder Vanegas from Texas

Elder Cundick from Utah
Elder Cordova from Guatemala by way of Idaho
Elder Humphries from Florida
Sister Baleiligana from Fiji who is only ever going to be called

Sister B or Sister Baleili because the rest of her name is just too hard!

Elder Forrest from New Caladonia
Elder Prieto from Barcelona, Spain by way of Nevada
Elder Miller from California
Elder Havea from Tonga
Elder Treilhard from Mexico
Elder Ma'asi from New Zealand
Elder Talaipa from Samoa
Elder Kodama from Hawaii

After all the eating and the getting to know you and the interviews, we went over to the transfer building to watch what transfers were like and meet some of the other missionaries. When that was finished, we came back to the mission office and brought the trainers with us. It was fun to watch the companions meet each other, and then we all had lunch together. After that, we just shoved the new missionaries into the deep end and hollered "Swim!" They went out to street contact with their companions, to the dinner appointment and then on to teach lessons that night. When their very long day was over, they would settle in to their new apartments and begin the best two years of their lives!

The Training Table

An odd number of sisters this transfer meant that there would be a threesome,

so Sister Long and Sister Mousseau are both training Sister Baleili

Elder Larson will be training Elder Cordova in the North Zone

Elder Gutierrez meets Elder Humphries

They will be serving together in the West Zone

President Winn keeps the suspense alive for Elder Vanegas

but then calls up Elder Rosario

who will be training Elder Vanegas in the South Zone

Elder Havea is being trained by Elder Vailea in the Central Zone

Say that ten times fast!

Elder Ostrom is training Elder Forrest in the Salt Lake Zone

Elder Kodama will have the daunting task of trying to keep up with

Elder Warczak, who has the enthusiasm and energy of Looney Tunes Tasmanian Devil!

President Winn cautions Elder Talaipa to calm down

but when he meets his trainer, Elder Mendenhall,

he gets so excited that he just picks up his trainer to take him home!

This companionship is bound to be an adventure!

What a grin!

Elder Ma'asi and Elder Davis will be serving together in the South Zone

Elder Wilkins meets Elder Willnauer

I think they are going to take over the Tooele Zone

Elder Lollathin and Elder Cundick will be serving together in the West Zone

Elder Hemminger is going to be training Elder Prieto.

Does that make anyone else nervous, or just me??

Just yanking your chain, Elder Hemminger!

You're my favorite, just don't tell the other missionaries!

One last round of "Called to Serve" and they will be on their way to do just that!

This job is the best!
