Surprise, surprise! Another kid needs surgery.

Just when I had most of the missionaries healthy, my own daughter decides to play a pick up game of soccer with the family home evening group! If you know Kristi, you know that she does not ever compete half-heartedly in any kind of game. It was only six months ago that she had her last surgery from a soccer game injury - a broken collar bone. This time, she tore her ACL in her right leg. She had to tear the ACL in the right leg, because the last time she tore the ACL in her left leg, which was her fourth ACL surgery for her left leg, the doctor got so tired of replacing the darn thing that he just put two ACL's in. Since she couldn't tear the left ACL, she decided to go with the right one. Silly girl.

So on August 24th, she had surgery and I got to bring her to the mission home to recover. She now has matching scars on her legs, and was just delighted to be here and have her recovery documented by her mom!

I abandoned her a good bit of the time to do missionary mom jobs, but I did make sure she had ice in her ice machine, drugs every four hours, and I brought her food in bed. As you can clearly see, her leg may be damaged, but her tonsils are just fine!

Her recovery this surgery was much quicker than in surgeries past. I think this may have had a great deal to do with a certain young physical therapist who makes house calls. What's his name was very responsive to her every need. He made sure she was comfortable in bed, taught her how to use crutches and even brought her flowers! She's is doing well and is not planning to play soccer again any time soon.
