One of my favorite blessings of serving in the Utah Salt Lake City Mission is that I am only a 6 hour drive or a 1 hour flight to Boise, Idaho, where my parents live. That means that every so often, I can go AWOL for a day or so, and visit them. On March 16th, I took a 9:00 am flight out of SLC, and by 11:00, I was sitting in the family room next to my parents, catching up on all the family news and telling them about life in the mission field. My parents are the most amazing people in the world, and if I do any good in my life at all, it is because of what they taught me growing up. Dad is 86 now, and mom is 83. They still live in their own home, lovingly working together to make it through each day. Their interdependence is wonderful to see! Each has handicaps, which they never complain about, and together, they can do almost anything. It always inspires me to be with them. I try to emulate their Christ-like attributes in my life. It was a perfect 26 hour visit, and I was back by Thursday afternoon.
Of course, some things never change. Before any picture, mom feels the need to spit on her hand and smooth dad's hair down, make sure his face is clean and fix his collar. She used to spit on our hair too, but we all left home so she can't do it any more!

When I got home, I even discovered I had been missed!
Not by Bruce. It was the Assistants. What a wonderful welcome home!
Elder Dominguez is on the left. Elder Evans is on the right.
What a fun trip. And what cute assistants you have!! I'm sure they did miss you. We miss you all the time! :)
