June 18, 2013 - New Elders In

Tuesday afternoon, June 18th, we got the first half of our last transfer in.  Off to the train station we went, to pick up our newest Elders, fresh from the MTC.  They came in shiny shoes, new suits and shirts that are actually white!  They carry new backpacks and brand new suitcases.  They only left their homes a few days ago, and they're a delightful combination of unbridled enthusiasm and pure terror. 

To the mission home we take them, where they will be the last group of new missionaries to sleep overnight with us.  It's hard to do all these "lasts".  I cry about every ten minutes these days, for the joy of what I've experienced and the sobering thoughts of how very much I will miss every bit of this.  Tuesday night, the mission home was filled with the spirit of these young Elders.  It's a spirit that only they can bring.  It's a feeling you cannot duplicate.  It is a feeling I will miss very much. They are called to serve their King.
