Bye-bye Byrdie and Happy Byrd-Day to You!

I feel really bad because we haven't had a Byrd-blog for so long.  I know that Elder Byrd has been pretty upset about it too.  His father, who LOVES Byrd-blogs, has had to hold himself back to keep from calling me up and asking me please, to do just one more embarrassing blog about his son!  Well, it just so happened that at the October 5th transfer, Elder Byrd got released as an Assistant and headed back to the field to be a regular missionary.  There, he had to do horrible things, like get 8 hours of sleep every night, and only worry about a handful of missionaries in his district, instead of 200 missionaries from Rock Springs, Wyoming to Wendover, Nevada.  It's been awful.  When we see him now, he is smiling and happy.  The dark circles under his eyes are gone.  We don't know what to do.  This is what Elder Byrd looked like when he was an assistant.
This is what Elder Byrd looks like now.
Elder Byrd used to be the Assistant with Elder Green.
Then he invited Elder Calderwood to come sit in these big comfy Assistant Rockers on this lazy porch in front of a nice restaurant.  Elder Calderwood fell for it, hook, line and sinker!
When Elder Calderwood wasn't looking, Elder Byrd took off like a bandit!
Now, Elder Calderwood looks like this:
And Elder Byrd just sits around opening Byrd-Day presents.
President Winn gave him a BYU sweatshirt, because they made a deal in the fall, that if 'Ole Miss beat BYU in football, Elder Byrd would go to school there, but if BYU beat 'Ole Miss, Elder Byrd has to put on some BYU blue and go to school in Provo.  Guess who won that game?  So, even after his mission, we will still have an opportunity for Byrd-blogs!

Elder Byrd's dad is just going to be so happy and proud!

  1. Hi Sister Winn,
I have been watching to see if you have posted pictures of the new missionaries. My son elder Jones entered the mission on Dec. 28th and I haven't recieved a letter from him yet, (I'm assuming because of new years on last Monday) and have been hoping for some pictures on your blog. I have loved seeing your blog and am grateful to the elders in our stake for telling me about it. Thank you for the great care that you are giving the elders and sisters in your mission! :)
