On Halloween, there was a contest to see which zone full of missionaries could use their time the most wisely. Halloween is a rather ridiculous night to attempt missionary work. For one thing, if the Elders should be out driving, it's likely that they would run over innocent little trick or treaters. Also, when you're a missionary, you're just too old to go trick or treating, and that's sort of what tracting is like. So President Winn encouraged them to do something productive with their time, and we worked out some suggestions and a point system. Elder Judd and Elder A. did the best! They took a newly baptized member of the church, and spent time online together in the genealogy library. They searched historical records for ancestors, and found about 80 new relatives for the family tree, which led the East Zone to victory and the coveted scripture study and breakfast with President and Sister Winn on November 7th. Our children still don't get the whole scripture study and breakfast with their mom and dad as being a prize concept. They still compare it to working on a chain gang in the deep south in the early 1900's. Oh well, the East Zone seemed to have a wonderful time!
