February 20, 2013 - Preach My Gospel Academy Awards

Preach My Gospel is a wonderful resource that we use for missionary work.  It contains pretty much everything that a missionary needs to know in order to serve a perfect mission.  Our diligent missionaries read from it every day.  They study it.  They can quote it.  They live it!  There are also two sets of PMG videos that go hand in hand with the text, which help them visualize and better understand the concepts taught in PMG.  During the transfer which started on January 9th and ended on February 20th, we challenged every companionship in the mission to watch all of the videos from both of the sets of DVD's - three times each!  This is no small undertaking, considering all of the discretionary time that missionaries have in their schedule. (None.)  In order to complete this task, the videos needed to run pretty much any time the missionaries were in their apartments and not sleeping.  During breakfast and lunch, when they were doing laundry, while they dressed and before bed.  It's sort of like running Sesame Street on the television, even though you don't think your three year old is really paying attention, one day they just start spouting the letters of the alphabet!  Young minds, as opposed to the old ones that President and Sister Winn have, absorb everything so easily!

For those who accepted that challenge and reached that goal, we had a breakfast and the PMG Academy Awards on the morning of transfers.  It was way fun!

Then we had some of the missionaries act out some of the scenes from the Preach My Gospel videos.  Let me tell you what - we've got a bunch of hams in this mission!  You shoulda been there!
