New Missionary Training: February 1, 2011

When the new missionaries have a week under their belt, we bring them back to the mission office for some training. All except for Elder Ahlstrom, who has been banished to Wyoming and will never be seen or heard from again. Anyway, by the end of a week, they are well seasoned and experienced enough to at least know what questions to ask now! They've actually put a lot of miles on their new shoes, tried out the new language that they learned in the MTC, taught a lot of lessons, knocked on a lot of doors, seen miracles and been to baptisms. They are feeling a whole lot more comfortable on this day than they did a week ago! It's fun to gather them up, listen to their feelings and experiences from the first week, give them some counsel and instruction and then send them back to their areas again! They are a joy to be around!
Meanwhile, down the hall, the Assistants give some training to the trainers on how to train your new missionary. Or maybe they just hang out and shoot the breeze. President Winn and I don't really know, since we're in the other room training the new missionaries.
And obviously, with President Winn presiding in the new missionary training room, only great counsel and deep spiritual guidance are occurring.
